I am Dr. Sheikh Iqbal Ahamed, Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science and Director of the Ubicomp Lab. With over $4 million in external research funding and extensive experience in medical and mobile computing, our lab is dedicated to pioneering innovative health monitoring and patient communication technologies.
Our work spans various cutting-edge areas, including customized patient communication methods, pain management solutions, and activity monitoring through smartphones. We collaborate with hospitals, healthcare companies, engineers, nurses, and physicians both in the U.S. and internationally to drive advancements in healthcare technology.
At Ubicomp Lab, we are committed to fostering academic excellence and research innovation. I teach graduate and undergraduate courses on mobile computing, software development, and design while advising students at all levels. From our lab, 27 PhD students have graduated, and we have published over 250 peer-reviewed articles. Our team’s research excellence has been recognized with multiple awards, and we continually strive to push the boundaries of technology in healthcare.
