    mHealth & Non-Invasive Sensing Lab

    State-of-the-art space for mobile health and non-invasive sensing research. The lab houses wearable sensors, optical and acoustic instrumentation, and physiological monitoring rigs used to prototype the next generation of patient-facing health tools.

    Active focus areas include camera-based vital sign extraction, blue-light & magnetic-field assays, smartphone diagnostics, and sensor-fusion pipelines that translate raw signal into clinically meaningful metrics.

    Collaborative Research Hub

    Collaborative Research Hub

    Open work area built for multi-disciplinary teams. Members regularly co-author with clinicians, public-health researchers, and industry partners — bringing the breadth of perspectives a real-world health problem demands.

    The Hub supports paired-programming stations, video-conference rooms for remote collaborators, and a dedicated whiteboard wall for design sprints and journal-club sessions.

    Cutting-Edge Tools & Industry Technology

    Students get hands-on exposure to the same hardware and software stacks shipped by leading industry partners: high-end GPU workstations for ML experimentation, modern mobile devices for iOS/Android prototyping, and licensed analysis suites for biosignal and imaging work.

    Equipment refresh cycles are aligned with industry standards so graduates leave fluent in the tools they'll meet in the field.

    3D Printer & Rapid Prototyping Lab

    3D Printer & Rapid Prototyping Lab

    Two professional 3D printers (FDM and resin), laser cutter, and soldering bench let researchers go from CAD model to working prototype in a single afternoon. Used heavily for sensor enclosures, phantom models for imaging studies, and physical fixtures for human-subject experiments.

    Open-access — every lab member is trained on safe operation and can book printer time directly.

    Computing & Data Infrastructure

    On-prem GPU servers for training models on sensitive health data that can't leave the institution, paired with cloud credits for elastic experimentation. Shared NAS storage with per-project quotas, encrypted at rest.

    The infrastructure is sized for cohort-scale studies — multi-subject longitudinal datasets, video corpora, and large-scale pretraining runs.

    Seminar & Outreach Space

    The lab regularly hosts visiting speakers, organizes journal clubs, and runs outreach events for prospective students and the broader Marquette community. The seminar space doubles as an informal lounge where students from different research lines cross-pollinate ideas over coffee.
